Service Check Reminder

When was the last time your ultrasound equipment had a thorough cleaning or service check?

Don’t test your luck this upcoming preg-checking season — send your unit in for a service check and head into the busy months with confidence. ReproScan equipment is built for durability and performance — designed to work as hard as you do. But like any hardworking tool, your ultrasound system needs periodic maintenance to stay reliable and efficient.

When should I send my machine in for a service check?

Getting your machine in for a service check every two years is recommended to ensure it is working at its best! Our repair department will thoroughly go through your machine to ensure it is running at peak performance before the next preg checking season. A check can ensure accurate imaging, optimal probe performance, and increase your machine’s lifespan. Even if everything appears to be working fine, small issues can develop quietly — and catching them early prevents costly breakdowns.

How much does a service check cost?

We charge an hourly rate for our service checks, and we try to be very thorough, so that we do not miss a problem that could cost you an expensive repair later on. Our average service check, with no serious issues such as a probe pull, typically costs around $300.

How long will I be without my ultrasound?

We recommend doing a service check in your slow ultrasound season, but we understand that for some of you preg checking is year round! Once your equipment is shipped and arrives at our repair facility, on average, it will be there for 1 week, barring any serious issues.

What do I do if my machine is broken?

If something is not working right with your machine, call us and we will help you get it sent in! It is important to call as soon as you can after something happens. The sooner you call, the sooner we can get your machine up and running again.

What can I do to prevent repairs?

Each time you use your equipment, we recommend the following:

  • Rinse probe to remove manure. (Do not pressure wash the unit!)
  • Wipe off excessive debris with a paper towel, damp cloth, or Clorox wipe.
  • Clean & sanitize with a cleaning solution (Clorox Wipes work great). Do not submerge your equipment in water or use overly wet cloths.
  • Every few times, wipe all equipment down with an Armor All wipe. This keeps your probe cable flexible, and your equipment looking like new!
    • If you have a Flexx, don’t wipe the screen
  • Put the probe cover on the probe head!
  • Fully charge all equipment before storing.

Every 6 months it is important to check:

Charger & Power Supply
  • Use only the original charger provided with your equipment.
  • Inspect for cuts, frays, or exposed wires.
  • Confirm the green light appears when plugged in.
Ultrasound Unit
  • Do lights appear and blink when charging? -> They should be blinking until fully charged.
  • Is the power input loose or wiggly?
  • Are there cracks or missing port covers?
  • Is the battery life declining?
  • Any rattling sounds or image flicker (“lightning”)?
Probe
  • Has the cord been pulled during use?
  • Check for cuts, kinks, or exposed wires.
  • Inspect the probe head and the gray surface for cracks or damage.
  • Do you have many dropouts?
Monitor or Goggles
  • Examine cables for damage.
  • Test buttons or touchscreen responsiveness.
  • Screws are tight on bag for RAM Kit
  • Look for cracks, missing rubber covers, or a worn-out monitor bag.
  • Check to ensure the monitor is still holding a charge. If you have any problems during your checks, contact our support team. We can help determine whether your unit should be sent in for repair.

Every 2 years we recommend sending in your equipment for a full service check. The following is completed during a service check:

  • Battery performance testing.
  • Mainboard inspection and removal for corrosion and dust.
  • Probe and cord evaluations for physical and electrical damage.
  • Image quality review- dropouts of electrical issues.
  • Case and port cover checks/replacement .
  • Identification of any internal wear or damage.
  • Internal seals.
